Some U.S. football wisdom

Sometimes in life you simply have to play the ball from where it lies on the field, right now, today. There isn’t anything you can do about what happened in the first half of play. There isn’t anything you can do, right now, about a fumble or a turnover seven snaps ago. If you are 2nd down and 3, a good or a bad play, on 1st down can be altered, erased, or done differently.

Let’s consider something that Paul the Apostle said to the Philippians…

“Brethren, I count not myself to have apprehended: but this one thing I do, forgetting those things which are behind, and reaching forth unto those things which are before, I press toward the mark for the prize of the high calling of God in Christ Jesus.”

Philippians 3:13-14

There isn’t anything you can do about yesterday and you can’t control what might or might not happen tomorrow. You can only worry about today. You can only play the ball from where it lies, right now, today. That should be your focus. That should be your primary concern.

Where is the ball placed today? What is your biggest challenge today. Who can you help, or pray for, or be a blessing on…today? Jesus said it another way, “Sufficient to the day is the evil thereof.”

Amen.

Let her tell you about her Jesus

I liked this song the very first time I heard it and I think I even like it more now that I’ve seen the video and taken a prayerful look at the lyrics. It’s up tempo and lively and has a great message.

This video was recorded live in Nashville, Tennessee. That makes sense because it definitely have a country twang to it. Not completely my cup of tea but I love the lyrics and I especially love the victorious and overcoming spirit it projects.

If you need some holy pep in your step than you might want to give this a listen, or two, or three! Sing the lyrics for yourself along with the video on full blast all by your self somewhere. If you’re in your cubicle at work or the rest of the house is asleep find your headphones and catch the vibe, and most importantly, catch the Spirit!

Amen and amen. 🙂

Revive us again

Psalms 85:6 says, “Wilt thou not revive us again: that thy people may rejoice in thee?” God is in the reviving business. If something is dying or dead, God can breathe life it back to life. Remember in Genesis that when “God breathed into his nostrils the breath of life” Adam became a living soul.

I’ve heard this hymn a lot lately and I wanted to pass it along…

1 We praise thee, O God, for the Son of thy love,
For Jesus who died and is now gone above.

Refrain:
Hallelujah, thine the glory!
Hallelujah, Amen!
Hallelujah, thine the glory!
Revive us again.
